The Groom

Hi There! So this page is about me. Well, I'm made of plastic, I have a big bump on my head (which is what keeps that hat from falling off), my skin is yellow, and my elbow's don't bend. Actually, I am an AFOL: Adult Fan of Lego. Check out my latest creations on Brickshelf.com.

I know what you're thinking: "You play with baby toys?" Are you kidding? Lego bricks are for big kids, too. How many adults play with toy trains, glue model airplanes together, or reenact civil war battles? Well guess what: you can do all that and more with Lego bricks (and without any glue).

I have a terrific doggie named Sequoia. She's a four-year-old eighty-pound purebred German Shepherd who hates kitty cats (especially fluffy orange ones), eats rabbits, and loves to go hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She also produces a lot of hair. Does anyone have a use for black and tan dog hair?

A couple of years ago I earned a pilot's license for single engine airplanes. It took me five years and countless hours of training and lots of cash to pull that stunt off. Haven't used it much since then. The local airport got rid of their rental planes so I have nothing to fly. I'm hoping to join the Hokie Flying Club this summer and get back into the air.

In my spare time I make computer software for Recognition Research Inc. Don't bother trying to pronounce it, just say "RRI" instead. RRI is the world leader in high-volume data capture technology. Data capture means automatically reading information from paper documents and storing it on a computer. Our biggest market is health insurance claims. Every time you visit a doctor, a form is mailed to your insurance company. There's a pretty good chance that your insurance company uses our software to process the form. My current role is "Lead Developer" for a new data entry application.

Oh, by the way, I'm getting married in October. I know that must be a big surprise to you reading this page. Her name is Deborah. That's three sylables: Deb-oh-rah. Say it with me: "Deb-oh-rah". Of course it's a lot easier to call her "Debbi". There's no "e" at the end of "Debbi". People get that wrong all the time. I like Debbi because she's silly and fun and she let's me play with Lego bricks. She's also nice and compassionate and has a pretty smile.
